Why this comp works

Vayne reroll trades raw scaling for one of the most reliable Stage 4 boards in the patch. Anima at 5 makes your carry effectively untargetable for the first second of combat, which is enough for her to ramp and carry a fight against most one-cost openers.
The comp peaks at level 7: 3-star Vayne, 2-star Akali frontline, Anima 5 active. Past Stage 5-1 you slow-roll for level 8 and slot a 5-cost (Jhin or Fiora) over Briar.

Openers and tempo

Open strongest board. Anima 3 plus any Vanguard 2 is enough to win Stage 2 streaks. Hold every Vayne and Akali you see — even uncommitted, they pay rent through trait activation.

Stage 3 checkpoint

By 3-2 you want: 30+ gold, a Vayne 2 (or two natural Vaynes), Akali in play, and either Anima 3 or Vanguard 3 active. If you have none of these you transition to Marauder reroll (Aatrox / Briar) before round 3-5.

Item priority

Vayne wants Last Whisper → Giant Slayer → Infinity Edge in most lobbies. Swap IE for Quicksilver if the lobby is full of Galaxy Hunters or Shen — the early CC immunity wins way more fights than the crit value.

Frontline items

Akali takes Bloodthirster + Hand of Justice. Leona gets Sunfire + Warmog as the second tank. Anything else is filler — don't slam a third major item before Stage 4.

Augments tier list

S-tier: Anima Commander, Apotheotic Forge, Last Whisper (silver), Tiny Titans, Rich Get Richer.
A-tier: Cybernetic Implants II, Pandora's Items, Jeweled Lotus, Best Friends II.

Pivots

When to transition out

Bail to Marauder Briar if you don't hit Vayne 2 by 3-5 with 50g, or if two other players are contesting and you're below 60 HP. The Aatrox / Gnar / Briar core uses the same Last Whisper + IE stack and rerolls at 6 instead of 7.

Top-4 to first place

First place comes from Vayne 3 + a second-trait emblem (Marauder via Belveth or Anima via Akali). Without an emblem, expect top 4 — don't ego-roll for a third star at 1 HP.

Closing

This comp is the most consistent climbing tool of the patch because it accepts a mediocre Stage 3 and still scales into a winning Stage 5. Lock it in, learn the tempo, and you'll average top 3.
